이 책은 국내 최초 초고층 목조건축물인 산림복지종합교육센터의 건립과정을 담았다. 설계부터 시공까지, 하이브리드 목조건축물(목조+콘크리트조)을 실현하기 위한 과정 속에서 생긴 문제점들과 해결방법 등 향후 목조건축물 건조에 있어 도움이 될 자료들이 포함되어 있다.

This book documents the development of Korea’s first high-rise timber building, the Forest Welfare Education Center. 이 책은 건축가 양건이 지난 10여 년 이상 각종 미디어에 써 온 글들을 주제별로 나누어 구성한 글 모음집이다. 책의 제목인 ‘차원감각’은 한 사람이 체험한 환경에서 형성된 개인적 감각이면서, 동시대적 정체성으로 공유되는 집합적인 인지체계를 뜻한다.

“차원감각은 한 사람이 체험한 자연환경과 사회 그리고 유전적 환경에서 형성되는 개인적인 감각이지만, 그가 속한 지역에 누적되어 동시대적 정체성으로 공유되는 원초적이면서 집합적인 인지체계라 할 수 있다.”
